She started working at the vessel F/V Sunset a 65' halibut-schooner and was later converted into a salmon tender in the name of Murat Aritan. She had been working in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999, and the couple have teamed up to fight for their business. Both of them are in favor of conserving resources and maximising the profits. Otolith has opened its market direct wholesale distributor in Philadelphia after Bossard was able to return from at home with her daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre one, and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. The name Otolith serves as a loving memory of Bossard's deep knowledge about fish biology and her husband's many connections in the seafood business. The two are frequently separated for 5 months at a stretch while they strive to achieve financial and environmental goals that show their determination and autonomy wherever they are. Bossard and her children Andre 10, and Isabella 12 return every year to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to catch wild salmon in summer. In a small 42 salmon trolling vessel using hooks and lines to capture their salmon, they join Aritan during two consecutive months of selling to local processors, and then continuing to grow their direct market seafood products sold through Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way buying the customized processing services of small processors to create unique wild-caught seafood that reflects their dedication to quality and the environment.
